Union Market Office and Theater

The design of the building at Union Market is a unique response to the compelling neighborhood in which it is located.  This district has served the role of food distribution and food markets historically and its’ buildings reflect that industrial-warehouse character.

The architectural approach is one that celebrates the mixed-use nature of the project in a direct, honest union of program and massing.  The three uses that comprise the program: food market, theaters and office receive their own unique volume and exterior expression.  The architectural solution for maintaining the market building open during construction lead to a long-span structural solution for the theaters and office uses.
